Les bonnes choses de la mer
LES MOUETTES D'ARVOR, Gonidec cannery
Perhaps it was written that Conserverie Gonidec would never be like the others. It was founded in 1959 at a time when the canning industry in Concarneau was beginning to decline. In June 1959, Jacques Gonidec and his parents decided to set up their own business. They set up in a small workshop in Passage-Lanriec, behind the Ville-Close. Les Mouettes d'Arvor (named after the football club where Jacques Gonidec, 2nd in line, played) took off, and in 1990, Jacques Gonidec (3rd in line) decided to continue the adventure. In 1995, Les Mouettes d'Arvor moved. A new production site, at the entrance to Concarneau, now met European standards and the need to combine modernity and tradition.
Over the years, the range of sardines, tuna and mackerel has expanded. Numerous specialities and new flavours have joined the traditional recipes. The same expertise goes into making these new products.
Jean Burel Océane, based in Concarneau in southern Finistère, is an authentic traditional cannery. Guaranteeing the freshness and selection of its products, Jean Burel Océane takes rigorous care in choosing the ingredients that go into its delicious home-made recipes.
