What to see in Concarneau in 2 days?

Must-sees for a weekend in Concarneau

A bustling seaside resort and port town nestling in southern Finistère, Concarneau is known as the ‘blue town’ because of the blue colour used to dye its fishing nets.
Discover the must-sees for a weekend away.

The walled town

This is undoubtedly the must-see part of a visit to Concarneau!

A former fortified town dating from the 14th century, the walled town is a real architectural and historical gem.

It is surrounded by high stone ramparts that offer a magnificent view of the sea and the marina.
Inside, you can stroll along its cobbled streets and explore the various local craft shops, or enjoy a crêpe or ice cream in one of the many cafés and restaurants.

The Marinarium

Located in the Ville Close, Concarneau's Marinarium is a marine biology station home to many local species (fish, starfish, seahorses, etc.).

You can discover them and learn more about their way of life through exhibitions, aquariums and a touch tank. An ideal visit for all the family.

Practical information
  • Admission: €8 per adult, €6 per child aged 3 to 12 (free for children under 3)

The Fishing Museum

Also located in the Ville Close, the Fishing Museum invites you to discover the fascinating world of fishing through a wealth of illustrated documents, model boats and even a trawler to visit alongside the quayside.

Practical information
  • Admission: €5 per person (free for under-18s)

The beaches

Concarneau is renowned for its magnificent beaches of fine sand and crystal-clear waters.

One of the most popular is the Plage des Sables Blancs. This is the town's largest beach, with lifeguard surveillance in summer, and is ideal for families.

For more peace and quiet, opt for the much wilder Cabellou beach to the east of the town.

Kériolet Castle

Just 5 minutes from Concarneau's walled town, nestling on the heights of the city, the Château de Keriolet invites you to take a trip back in time.

Let us tell you about the extraordinary destiny of Princess Zénaïde Narisckine and her husband, Count Charles de Chauveau, who transformed this 13th-century castle into a neo-Gothic architectural gem.

Practical information
  • Address: Rue de Stang Ar Lin, 29900 Concarneau
  • Opening times: open every day from June to September, except Saturdays
  • Admission: €8 per adult, €4 per child aged 7 to 15 (free for children under 7)
